2016 Volunteer Information

philippines

Volunteer Specifications: Volunteers must be 18 or older, or accompanied by a guardian age 25 or older.  Please call for exceptions.

Camp Training: Training will consist of two mandatory conference calls and other pre-camp training materials including suggested videos and reading material. This will prepare volunteers for their time with the orphans, the Philippine culture, and working with their team. After you apply, we will email you information about the conference calls and pre-trip training program.

Plane Tickets: Volunteers are responsible for booking their own plane tickets. Please arrange your itinerary so that you arrive in Manila at least by August 6th. The BMH camp staff will arrange your transportation to and from the airport.

Passport and Visa: You will need a passport that is valid for at least three months after the expected departure date. Please apply for your passport as soon as you decide to go to the Philippines. Your post office should be able to help you.

“U.S. citizens can travel to the Philippines for up to 21 days without need for a visa. If the visit will be shorter, they can simply get an entry stamp when they arrive at the airport in the Philippines. In order to receive a 21-day entry stamp, the passport must be valid for at least three months — but preferably six — from the planned date of exit. This free entry applies both to tourist and business visas that last less than 21 days.”

Touring within the Philippines: The time in-country before and after camp are the responsibility of the volunteer. If you desire to travel and see the country, BMH is not able to make those arrangements.

Fundraising: You may have your friends and family send in support checks to cover your Bring Me Hope camp fee. Have your supporters make checks payable to Bring Me Hope. IMPORTANT: please have supporters mail checks to your address.  Once you have several checks you can mail them into Bring Me Hope with your name on the memo line and we will credit your account.
